Overview
Crosstown Arts offers 2–3 month residencies in an urban setting to visiting and Memphis-based artists working in any creative discipline, including visual arts, music, filmmaking, and writing. The program includes private studio workspace, optional lodging, and access to shared facilities, gallery space, music venue, black-box theater, maker space, and events. Residents are encouraged to experiment and explore new ideas or further develop current work with no specific project requirements.

Housing & Facilities
Residencies include private studio workspace and optional lodging (microunit with private bedroom/bathroom or free-standing studio house for musicians). Several housing options are accessible; Crosstown Concourse is ADA compliant. Residents have access to shared kitchen facilities, private studios, dedicated shops, woodworking tools, silkscreen studio, photo/video editing suite, music/media studio, large format printers, and more.

Application requirements
Applicants submit up to 8 work samples, an artist statement, and residency goals via Slideroom. Applications are scored by a rotating selection panel comprised of creative professionals, with emphasis on inclusivity and diversity.
Resident expectations
- Participate in limited public engagement activities
- Give informal artist talks (all sessions)
- Participate in open studio events (3 month or longer sessions)
Selection & notification
Residencies are awarded in the fall of each year based on panel scores and recommendations. Most recent year: 18 artists accepted from 180 applicants.
