Artist Choice

Overview

Artist Choice Open Show presented by the Louisa Arts Center in Louisa, Virginia. All artwork must be original in any media and ready for sale. Artwork wholly generated by AI programs will not be accepted; however, AI-assisted artwork is acceptable if the greater part is the tangible, intellectual, and creative labor of the artist.

Key Dates

• Online registration: April 19–July 16, 2026 by 5:00 p.m.
• In-person submission: July 18, 2026, 9:00–11:00 a.m.
• Artists notified: July 20, 2026
• Unselected art pickup: July 21–24, 2026, 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
• Opening reception: August 7, 2026, 6:00–8:00 p.m.
• Show dates: July 24–September 18, 2026
• Art pickup: September 19, 2026, 9:00–11:00 a.m.

Eligibility

Open to all local artists. Artwork must not have appeared in a previous show at the Louisa Arts Center.

Entry Requirements

• Submit up to 3 pieces per artist
• If two or more canvases are to be hung together, they count as separate pieces; if within one frame, they count as one piece
• Register and upload JPEG or PNG photos (5 MB maximum per file) at https://artistchoice2026openshow.artcall.org
• In-person submission only—artwork cannot be shipped
• All 2-D artwork must be professionally framed and wired for hanging (no sawtooth hangers)
• 3-D work must be sculpture or stand-alone pieces; pedestals provided by gallery

Fees

• $5.00 non-refundable fee per art piece
• Fees waived for students under 18 (call 540-967-5200 for coupon code)

Commission & Sales

Artwork is required to be for sale. The Louisa Arts Center retains a 30% commission on sold artwork. Artists must also remit 15% of the sale price for any item purchased by an Arts Center client or referral from opening night to 30 days later.

How to Enter

Create an account at the Artcall website and upload digital photos of your work. Take a photo of each piece before final framing (for framed work with glass, photograph before final framing; for 3-D work, use simple white background). After uploading, print the two identification tags provided—one attaches to the back/bottom of the art, the other is your receipt. All artwork must be physically submitted for judging on July 18, 2026, 9:00–11:00 a.m.

Liability

The Louisa Arts Center takes precautions to protect artwork but does not insure submitted pieces. By submitting, artists agree to allow work to be shown and reproduced for publicity purposes and agree to hold the Center harmless against claims for loss or damage.
