Overview

Robert A. Peck Gallery is accepting applications of artwork in all photographic print formats (black & white film, digital, alternative and experimental processes) for an exhibition of images shot in Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana. Artists can reside anywhere in the world. The gallery is seeking images that capture unexpected aspects of these vast states and exude innovation, aesthetic finesse, and thought-provoking narratives. Archetypical images seen in visitor guides are not desired.

Key dates

• Submission deadline: August 1, 2026

Eligibility & restrictions

• Open to artists worldwide (professional and amateur photographers)
• Images must be taken in Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Montana
• Images previously exhibited in Light of the West are not eligible
• No AI-generated images
• Artists must own copyright of image and obtain model release for persons photographed

Media & submission

• All photographic print formats accepted (black & white film, digital, alternative and experimental processes)
• Submit 1–8 JPEG images for jurying
• No videos, films, or AI-generated images
• Frames with back stand will not be accepted; use eye hooks with wire and plexiglass or glass, or mount on metal/other materials ready to hang
• Gallery will not allow holes drilled into walls
• Provide a 1-page artist statement or process/technique statement

Awards & recognition

• Prize money of $10,000
• Accepted artists receive $100 stipend for shipping upon receipt of artwork
• 3-panel jury of Wyoming artists will assign awards from actual images

Fees

There is no fee to apply, nor will any commission fee be collected on sold work.

Exhibition details

RAPG staff are responsible for setup. Exhibitors must clearly communicate any specific display needs (order or grouping of pieces) prior to delivery. Light refreshments, wine/beer, non-alcoholic beverages, and hors d'oeuvres will be provided. Exhibitors are invited to the opening reception.
