About
Artists working in paint and visual media are invited to apply for a 4-week residency to explore innovative materials and technologies in painting and related disciplines.
Overview
The Golden Foundation Residency Program offers 4-week residencies for artists working in paint and visual media. Located in the rolling hills of central New York, the program is housed in a transformed 19th century barn with large studio spaces and private apartments. Artists will explore innovative materials and technologies available through Golden Artist Colors, including oil paints, waterborne materials, and experimental products.
Residency Details
- 4 weeks in duration
- Up to 3 artists per session
- 6 sessions offered in 2027
- Private bedroom in shared housing facility
- ADA compliant housing and facilities
- Private apartment with private bathroom and shower
What's Included
- Unlimited supply of acrylic, watercolor, PanPastel and oil paints and mediums
- 900–1,200 sq. ft. open studio space (24/7 access; solvent use limited due to shared space)
- Introduction to custom and experimental products
- Access to Golden Artist Colors laboratories and manufacturing facilities
- Consultation opportunities with paint technicians and material specialists
- Fully-equipped shared kitchen, laundry facilities, wireless internet
- Access to 140 acres of pastoral meadows, woodland trails, and meandering brooks
- Some meals provided (at least 2 meals)
Eligibility
- Open to artists 25 or older
- Any stage of career
- Professional artists based anywhere in the world
- Painting and visual media disciplines including drawing, mixed media, printmaking, sculpture, installation, photography, textile arts, and woodworking
Costs
- Application fee: $30
- Residency tuition: Free (no cost to attend as of 2018)
- Deposit upon acceptance: $250
- Artists responsible for food expenses and travel to/from residency
- Travel/material stipend: $200
Additional Expectations
- Donate a work of art
- Participate in open studio with fellow residents
- Give artist talk or presentation
