Artists are invited to apply for a residency fellowship at MacDowell to spend 10 days to 8 weeks creating original work in their artistic discipline.

MacDowell, established in 1907, is a renowned artist residency program located in Peterborough, New Hampshire, offering a rural, serene, supportive environment for creative work. Eligibility
Artists must be 21+ years of age, generating original works of art, and not currently enrolled in a degree program (ABD students are eligible). Applicants cannot be enrolled in a degree-seeking program during the residency season for which they are applying. MacDowell welcomes professional artists at all career stages (emerging, mid-career, established) and accepts applications from artists working anywhere in the world.

Application requirements
Applications are completed online at macdowell.org and include general information forms, a project proposal with work samples demonstrating experience within the same discipline and genre as the proposed project, and five artistic achievements relevant to the applicant's artistic career.
Residency details
- Length: 10 days to 8 weeks
- Average artists in residence at one time: 24
- Housing: Private apartments/cabins/houses or private bedrooms in shared facilities
- Meals: All provided
- Accessibility: Partially accessible (50% or more)
- Studios/equipment: Private studios with specialized equipment including piano, electric kiln, darkroom, printmaking press, woodworking tools, painting workspaces, and more
Fees and funding
Application fee is $30 USD. There is no residency fee. Accepted artists are responsible for materials and travel expenses. MacDowell offers stipends and travel grants to accepted artists based on demonstrated financial need to help cover travel costs, rent, lost income, and childcare.
