Overview
Kala's residency program serves over 170 artists annually. Artists-in-Residence share space, equipment, techniques, and ideas, and are a vital part of the Kala community. International, national, and local artists producing innovative work in printmaking, photography, digital media, film and video, sound, animation, media art installation, and book arts are encouraged to apply.
What You'll Get
Artists receive 24/7 access to a shared 8,000-square-foot Print Studio, equipment, digital lab, black and white darkroom, and 3 individual artist project spaces (150-400 sq feet available to visiting artists).

Residency Length & Options
- 2-Week Residency with Kala Housing: $1,400 total per person
- 3.5-Week Residency with Kala Housing: $1,700 total per person
- 1, 2, or 3-Month Part-Time Residency: $340 per month (3 days per week access; no housing)
- 1, 2, or 3-Month Full-Time Residency: $490 per month (4-7 days per week access; no housing)
- 6-Month Part-Time Residency: $260 per month
- 6-Month Full-Time Residency: $420 per month
- 12-Month Part-Time Residency: $2,760 per year ($230/month)
- Collaborative Residencies available at 1.5x the single-person rate
Housing
Kala offers two shared artist apartments a block from the studio. Each apartment is a 2-bedroom unit with your own bedroom, 1 roommate, and shared kitchen, living room, and bathroom. Housing is included only in the 2-week and 3.5-week residency packages.
Eligibility
Open to artists at any stage of career based anywhere in the world. Artists who apply should be familiar with at least one of the media/equipment offered at Kala. Collaborative applications welcome.

Additional Information
Residencies are highly subsidized through grants and donations. No artist stipend or travel stipend is provided. Pets are not allowed. Residents may participate in open studio with fellow residents. Housing is partially accessible (50% or more).
