Blue Hour

Overview

Blue Hour is a community exhibition celebrating emotional, symbolic, and visual interpretations of blue. Artists are invited to explore the atmospheric transition just before sunrise or after sunset, when the world is washed in blue light. Work may be representational or abstract, drawing inspiration from twilight, landscapes, dreams, emotion, or the symbolic nature of blue itself. Blue does not need to dominate the entire composition but should play a clear and intentional role.

Eligibility

Open to artists of all backgrounds and experience levels. Artists must be local and able to deliver and pick up work in person; shipping is not available.

Submission Requirements

• All mediums accepted
• Up to 3 submissions per artist
• Artwork title(s), medium, size (unframed), and year
• Short artist statement (max 250 words)
• Bio (max 150 words)

Submission Guidelines

All mediums are accepted. Artwork must be ready to hang with D-rings only—no sawtooth hangers or eyehooks. Photos must be cropped, well lit, and labeled in format: ArtistName_Title_Medium. Improperly labeled or poorly lit photos will be disqualified.

• Non-members: $30

Sales & Commission

ShenArts handles all sales and promotion and takes a 30% commission of the retail price.
