About

Associate Members of the American Impressionist Society are invited to submit up to five original impressionistic paintings in oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor, casein, egg tempera, oil sticks, or gouache for an online juried exhibition.

Overview

The 6th Annual Associate Members Online Exhibition is a juried show for AIS Associate Members only. All accepted works are posted in a special AIS online digital catalog, ShowSubmit gallery, and AIS Facebook pages. No shipping required, and artists retain 100% of sales commissions.

Eligibility

Must be a current or new paid AIS Associate Member
Must be a legal US resident
2026 membership dues of $65 must be paid prior to entry deadline

Media & Style

Oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor, casein, egg tempera, oil sticks, and gouache only. No mixed media, photography, digital, AI, digitally manipulated work, painted giclee prints, reproductions, or manipulated or painted-over photos.

Work Requirements

Must be original in concept and execution, impressionistic in style
Completed within the last three years
Not created in any class or under instructor guidance
Created from artist's own photographs only
No diptychs, triptychs, or multi-surfaces
Not previously exhibited in any AIS show (but rejected entries from prior AIS shows may be resubmitted)

Submissions & Fees

$20 entry fee for one painting
$10 per additional painting (up to five total)
Total fees: $20 (one), $30 (two), $40 (three), $50 (four), $60 (five)
No framing required, but framing encouraged if selling work

Best Impressionist Work/Best of Show: $2,000
Award of Distinction: Featured Artist in Fine Art Connoisseur ($1,000 value)
Three Awards of Merit: $750 each
Ten Honorable Mentions: $75 each
Total prize pool: $5,000

Sales & Commission

AIS directs buyers to artists and includes artists' websites and contact information in the online exhibit. Artists retain 100% of the sales price. Work may be entered that is not for sale, but if for sale, must be priced according to the artist's standard pricing. No price changes or switches to/from NFS accepted after submission.

Award: $5,000 in cash prizes including Best Impressionist Work/Best of Show $2,000, Award of Distinction with Featured Artist in Fine Art Connoisseur ($1,000 value), three Awards of Merit $750 each, and ten Honorable Mentions $75 each.
