Artists of any nationality can apply for residency stays of 2–4 weeks at MASS MoCA's artist and writers residency program.
Overview
The Studios is MASS MoCA's artist and writers residency program situated within the museum's factory campus and surrounded by the beautiful Berkshire Mountains. The residency runs year-round and hosts up to 10 artists at a time.
Residency Details
- Length: 2–4 weeks
- Private bedroom in shared housing on campus or private housing off campus

Early Application Opportunity
This Early Application is for artists who could benefit from additional lead time to plan their stay and apply for outside funding from sources such as a university employer or international/regional arts councils. Announcements are typically made 9 to 15 months before the session being awarded.

Eligibility
- Pets are not allowed
- Family friendly (residents granted leave during residency)
Fees & Financial Support
- Residency fee: $650 per week
- 50% deposit due no later than 6 months prior to residency start
- Early Application applicants NOT considered for financial aid or fellowships—only apply if confident of securing outside funding
- If unsuccessful in securing funds, you may give up the slot without penalty until 6 months prior to start date while slot can be awarded to someone on waitlist

Submit application through massmoca.org/studios. If offered a residency, you will receive a formal letter of invitation to support any grant-writing efforts.
