About
Submit 3–10 images of artworks inspired by folklore, legends, myths, fairy tales, folktales, rituals, dances, and traditions from multiple cultures worldwide for a juried competitive exhibition.
Overview
Mythus is a national juried exhibition of artworks inspired by folklore, showcasing stories, legends, myths, fairy tales, folktales, rituals, dances, and traditions from multiple cultures across the world. The exhibition takes place in The Vault, a historical bank vault within d'Art Center in the heart of Norfolk's Arts District (The NEON District), creating an intimate and close-up experience. This is a competitive call; the intimate space will accommodate about 25 works. The exhibition will be featured both in-person and digitally on d'Art Center's archive site.

- Submission period: Friday, July 10th – Sunday, August 9th, 2026
- Jury period: Monday, August 10th – Sunday, August 16th, 2026
- Notifications (by email): By 5pm, Monday, August 17th, 2026
- Accepted works deadline: 5pm Saturday, September 19th, 2026
- Exhibition dates: Saturday, September 26th – Saturday, October 24th, 2026
- Opening reception (with Main Gallery exhibit Fibrous): Friday, October 2nd, 5:30–7:30pm
- Pick-up begins: Tuesday, October 27th
Eligibility & Submission
- National eligibility; open to artists
- Submission limit: 1 artist per applicant
- 3–10 images of artwork (minimum 3, maximum 10)
- $30 entry fee covers 3 entries (one image per submission)
- Each additional submission over 3 is an additional $5
Media & Size Requirements
- Artwork must be hang/pedestal ready (including frame if applicable)
- Maximum size: 36 inches in longest dimension
- Wall hanging art must have a wire
- Installation-related stipulations may be waived by contacting the Gallery Director (abradley@d-artcenter.org)
- For 3D work, create a tile image or use additional slots for detail images
Jurying & Awards
This is a juried exhibition curated by d'Art's Gallery Director, Amanda Bradley. Award winners will be selected by a panel of d'Art Center's professional artists and staff members. The award is Best in Show.
Delivery & Pickup
- Hand deliveries accepted by pre-arrangement only; contact abradley@d-artcenter.org
- d'Art Center open Tuesday–Saturday, 10am–5pm, Thursday until 7pm
- Shipped work generally shipped back by the Wednesday following the last exhibition day (may vary due to holidays)
- Pick up work as soon as possible; storage space is limited
Payments & Contact
If you win an award or sell a piece, payments are settled at the end of the month the exhibition ends. Expect your check in the mail a few weeks after the final date of that month. For questions about work eligibility, contact abradley@d-artcenter.org (no phone calls).
