Call for Artists: Faces and Figures

Overview

The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection invites 2D artists to submit work exploring faces, figures, or gestures that may be abstract, naturalistic, symbolic, or otherwise engage with figurative references as subject matter and metaphor. Works in all 2D mediums are welcome, including painting, drawing, multimedia, collage, photography, digital (printed and hang-ready), textile, and printmaking.

Key dates

• Submission deadline: Midnight, Friday, August 7, 2026
• Artwork drop-off: Sunday, August 16, 11:30 AM–12:30 PM & Thursday, August 20, 6–7 PM
• Artist discussion and reception: Sunday, August 30, 10:30–11:30 AM
• Exhibition: Sunday, August 23 to Sunday, October 25, 2026
• Pick-up: Sunday, October 25, 11:30 AM–12:30 PM, Monday, October 26, 5:30–6:30 PM

Eligibility

Open to local 2D artists in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area, limited only by the artist's ability to deliver and pick up their work.

How to enter

• The image list must be in .doc, .docx, or .pdf format and include: name, contact information (phone and email), website address/online handle, and 1–2 paragraphs describing how your work responds to the exhibition theme.
• For each image, list: title, medium, size, and asking price or NFS (not for sale).

Requirements

All accepted work must be ready to hang with appropriate hanging hardware, framing, and/or other treatment that allows for safe installation on a cable/hook system.

Selection and notification

The Art and Exhibitions Committee will meet the week following the deadline to review all submissions. All artists will be contacted with the selection results and additional instructions.

Sales and commissions

The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection does not charge commission and will send all sales inquiries directly to the artists.
