About
Artists of any career stage are invited to apply for a 1-week to 2-month residency in Patagonia, Argentina, where they will have private housing, workspace, and facilities to create across all artistic disciplines.
Overview
We-Che Art Residency is an artist-run project in Trevelin, Chubut, Patagonia, offering a retreat for creative work in a natural setting on 2 hectares backed by a protected 240-hectare natural area. The residency welcomes all creators and writers whose projects fit the space and philosophy of connecting art to nature and Patagonian culture.
Residency Length & Location
Residencies run from 1 week to 2 months. The residency is located in Trevelin, close to Futaleufú and the Chilean border, in the heart of the 16th of October Valley near Los Alerces National Park, facing pre-Andean mountains.
Eligibility
Open to artists at any stage of career (emerging, mid-career, established) based anywhere in the world. Applications are accepted year-round on a rolling basis.
Disciplines & Media
We welcome artists working in all disciplines, including book arts, documentary, drawing, environmental arts, fiction, film, illustration, interdisciplinary arts, journalism, literary nonfiction, literature, mixed media, moving image, music, nonfiction, painting, paper arts, philosophy, photography, poetry, printmaking, sculpture, sound art, storytelling, textile & fiber arts/weaving, translation, visual arts, woodworking, and writing.
Housing & Facilities
- Private bedroom in shared housing or private housing on campus (individual apartment/cabin/house)
- Private and shared studios with easels, drawing benches, light tables, woodworking tools, book arts facilities, printers, and scanners
- Fresh bedsheets and bath towels each week, Wi-Fi internet connection, heating, water, electricity, and gas included
Meals & Amenities
- Some meals provided (at least 2 meals daily) plus access to shared kitchen and private kitchen facilities
- Weekly group outings to points of interest
- Weekly outings for art supplies and groceries
- Airport pickup and return from Esquel Airport
- Access to eclectic evolutive library
- Basic supplies provided
Fees
- $350 USD per week or $1,300 USD per month per artist
- Fee includes housing, workspace, tools, facilities, basic supplies, library access, cleaning, linens, Wi-Fi, utilities, airport transfer, and weekly group outings
