Call for Artists: Southern University at New Orleans Nursing & Allied Health Building (EXTERIOR)

Overview

The Louisiana Percent for Art Program seeks qualifications from professional artists and artist teams for an exterior public art commission at the new School of Nursing & Allied Health Addition at Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO). This is a Request for Qualifications; proposals are not required at this stage. The selection committee seeks an exterior artwork that establishes a strong visual identity for the School of Nursing and reflects the values and mission of the program, with themes of resilience, healing, community, and healthcare equity.

Project Details

Artwork may be sited in exterior areas surrounding the School of Nursing, including entry points, terraces, and adjacent landscape areas. Final artwork location will be determined in collaboration with the selection committee.

Eligibility

• Professional artists and artist teams
• Residing in Louisiana Region 1 (Jefferson, Orleans, and Plaquemines Parishes)
• 18 years or older
• Open to all races, colors, religions, national origins, gender identities, military statuses, sexual orientations, marital statuses, and physical abilities

Application Requirements

• Current artist résumé (or résumés for artist teams)
• Letter of interest (maximum one page)
• Contact information for three professional references
• 5–10 images of completed artworks demonstrating experience with projects of similar scope and complexity
• Optional: up to three videos of past work

Submission Limit

• Maximum 1 submission per artist/team
