National juried online show for pastel artists, with awards and cash prizes. Submissions open June 5, 2026; deadline August 24, 2026. Judge: Mark Ivan Cole, Master Circle, IAPS, Signature Member, PSA.

Eligibility

Open to North American artists 18 years and older—SWFPS members and non-members
Any styles or subject matter from traditional to contemporary welcome
Paintings must be at least 80% soft pastel (no oil pastels)
Original artwork only—paintings done in classrooms or workshops with instructional supervision not allowed
Work must be based exclusively on artist's own photo reference, life set-up, or plein air experience
All artwork must be originally drawn and not created on top of any photographic or traced image
No use of AI permitted in artwork creation or development
Paintings entered in concurrent shows not allowed
Paintings previously receiving major awards (Best of Show, first, second, or third place) not permitted
Paintings must have been completed in the last three years

Awards

First Place: $1,000
Second Place: $500
Third Place: $250
Member Award: $200
6 Honorable Mention Awards in Cash & Prizes

Entry Requirements

Up to 5 artworks per artist
Submit high-quality JPEG images only
Crop image to show artwork only—no visible matting, frames, or background distractions
Ensure image is oriented correctly (right side up)
Maximum file size: 30MB
Accepted images must be identical to the artist's paintings, not digitally altered

Fees

Non-Member: $45 for 1 work, $5 each additional
Member: $35 for 1 work, $5 each additional
Entry fees must be paid online by credit or debit card at time of entry
Entry fees are non-refundable
SWFPS members must be current on dues prior to entry

How to Enter

Submit entries online using the ShowSubmit system. You may log back in before the deadline to review entries, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images. Entry fees must be submitted and paid by the deadline; incomplete entries will be disqualified.

Notifications & Sales

All artists will receive notification by email after jurying is complete, posted in the ShowSubmit account by end of day Monday, August 31, 2026. Work may be for sale or marked NFS. This is an online-only show with no framing, handling charges, or shipping required.
