Vashon Artist Residency offers self-directed residencies on Vashon Island in Washington State. The program welcomes artists at any stage of their creative practice in visual, literary, performing, media, and interdisciplinary arts. The program prioritizes accessibility and cultivates a cohort of artists with diverse economic, cultural, geographic, and artistic backgrounds.
Residency Details
- Duration: 2-week or 4-week residencies
- Up to 7 artists per session; 10 sessions offered yearly
- Housing: Private bedroom in shared facility with private or shared bathroom
- Workspace: 24-hour access to private studio or writing desk; Wi-Fi available throughout campus
- Amenities: Communal kitchen, indoor and outdoor gathering spaces; some meals provided
What's Included & What Isn't
Residents enjoy private accommodation, shared kitchen access, and dedicated workspace. Residents are responsible for their own travel, materials, shipping, and food expenses. Access Stipends are available to help offset costs.

- English language reading and speaking strongly recommended but not required

Facilities
Private studios, painting workspace with easels, printmaking workspaces with etching press and inking table, music/media studio with piano, and shared equipment including washer/dryer, hot plates, large sinks, and drying racks.
