Overview

The Creative Industries Film Lab and Residency – American Film Showcase 2026 is a five-day public diplomacy program aligned with the American Film Showcase 2026 Envoy visit and scheduled during the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival Market 2026. The program advances U.S.-Indonesia diplomacy and deepens partnership in the creative economy sector.

Program Components

• Exhibition Booth: An 81m² (9m x 9m) professionally designed, interactive exhibition booth featuring American Film Showcase and Freedom 250 branding, showcasing American film, U.S. technological innovation, and cinematic contributions. The booth will host expert-led panel discussions on American film, digital freedom, intellectual property rights, and artificial intelligence.
• Film Residency: Immersive, hands-on training for 30 emerging and mid-career Indonesian filmmakers in cinematography, directing, production design, and American technology and standards, including expert-led panels, production company visits, networking sessions, and university engagements.

Project Audience

• Primary: Emerging and mid-career Indonesian film professionals (cinematographers, production designers, sound designers, on-set crew, emerging directors) active in the industry and positioned to apply new skills and adopt American technology and practices.
• Secondary: Film students and faculty, production company and studio executives, exhibitors, media representatives, and potential commercial partners and users of American film-production technology.

Key Objectives

• Increase Indonesian public understanding of American film contributions and innovation through the exhibition booth, targeting at least 5,000 visitor engagements, at least three media placements, and recognition of the U.S. as a global leader in film and technology.
• Expand cross-sector film industry connections by hosting a VIP engagement event with at least 100 guests, including government officials, industry leaders, and production company executives.
