Rumriver Art Center is calling for artwork submissions that investigate liminality—the in-between, moments of change, metaphorical thresholds. Artists are encouraged to explore the strangeness in moments of change, including forgotten places, objects in unconventional settings, figures in rest or waiting, temporal transitions like dusk or twilight, and anxious anticipation of the unknown.

  • October 3–31, 2026 at Rumriver Art Center
  • November 2, 2026–January 7, 2027 at Anoka County Library's Northtown branch

All ages can apply. All mediums welcome with the exception of digital/virtual art forms that require technological support. AI-generated imagery or writing will not be accepted.

Artwork must be ready for installation. Only wired hanging systems accepted for work meant to be hung (paintings, drawings, prints, hanging sculptures). Two-dimensional pieces not larger than 36" x 36"; three-dimensional works may not exceed 36" x 36" x 36".

Sliding scale structure. Artists determine the amount to pay based on what they can afford within a designated range. Minimum entry fee is $5. No refunds of entry fees will be issued regardless of acceptance.

  • 1st place: $100
  • 2nd place: $75
  • 3rd place: $50

Accepted artwork will be labeled with a price. Work marked NFS (Not for Sale) or left empty will be marked NFS. Rumriver Art Center retains a 35% commission on the sale price of artwork sold during the show.

All accepted artworks must be dropped off at Rumriver Art Center Gallery on Tuesday, September 29th between 10 am and 7 pm. Email [email protected] as soon as possible if you need an alternative drop-off time. Artwork must be picked up in-person; Rumriver Art Center will not ship. Artwork unclaimed for 14 days after the designated pick-up date becomes property of Rumriver Art Center.
