Description Guidance : 3 Sep. – 9 Sep. Open studio : 3 Oct. Exhibition : 31 Oct. – 8 Nov, 14 – 15 Nov. Art Tour : 31 Oct. School workshop : 17 Sep. – 17 Oct. * One or two workshops will be scheduled for each artist. * International Food Exchange will be scheduled in September. * The schedule dates are subject to change. Residency location Kamiyama, Tokushima. Japan Residency period 3 September – 11 November 2026 Qualification To apply for the program, applicants must meet all of the following requirements: a) Be involved with painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, land art and other art making. Grants are not made in the disciplines of production art. b) Be capable of working independently and managing daily life on one’s own. c) Be able to produce at least one artwork during the residency period and take responsibility for the presentation of the work, including its display and removal. d) Understand the purpose of one’s visit to KAIR and be able to present over 4/5 of period of the program. e) Be able to lead community life with other artists on the program and to communicate with local people including the exchange program. f) Be able to speak and understand English daily conversation. g) Be in good health. h) Commit to a minimum stay of 40 days prior to the exhibition. The official residency period is from 3 September to 11 November (69 days). Participation for a shorter duration may be accepted. The Artist must clearly indicate their intended dates of stay on the application form. In such cases, the living allowance will be reduced proportionally. i) Acknowledge that KAIR operates with limited financial and material resources and cannot provide the same level of facilities or support as art museums or galleries. The Artist must be prepared to work within these constraints, make effective use of available resources and materials, and take full responsibility for time management and completion of the final presentation. j) Clearly indicate on the application form whether professional assistance from a third party is required for any aspect of the proposed work. Pay by artists / Support for artists - Travel expenses [OVERSEAS RESIDENT] A one-time round-trip economy class airfare between the airport that is nearest to the artist’s home and Osaka Kansai International Airport (KIX) (payable up to 200,000JPY) [DOMESTIC RESIDENT] A one-time round-trip economy class airfare, railway or bus fare to Tokushima (payable up to 75,000JPY). - Material allowance（JPY250,000) - Stipend（JPY200,000) - Apartment/Studio - Bike/Car Selection process The selection committee of KAIR will strictly screen all applicants. The result of selected artists will be announced on our website by 15 May, 2026. * The committee will not provide individual feedback, comments, or reasons regarding each applicant's submission.
