Overview
Drawing Rooms Solo Project Space #8 seeks an exciting and compelling cohesive body of work or installation on any theme or concept and of any size or media. Multiple solo artists will be chosen by the curator: one artist for the Project Space and up to four artists for additional solo gallery areas. Selected artists will have preferred status for The Big Small Show, an end-of-year holiday exhibition.
Key dates
- Submissions due: August 11, 2026
- Artist notification: August 16, 2026
- Opening reception: Saturday, September 12, 2026, 6–8 p.m.
- Meet the artists: Sundays, September 20 & 27, 2026, 3–5 p.m.
- Exhibition dates: September 10 – October 11, 2026
- Closing reception: Sunday, October 11, 2026, 4–6 p.m.
Eligibility & requirements
Open to international artists. Applicants must be working artists. Submit 1–15 images (not audio or video). Provide an artist statement describing your intention and motivation. Installation artists must provide a detailed description including materials and timeline in hours/days needed to install.

- Painting or drawing on paper, canvas, or other media
- Collage or textiles
- Photography
- Prints
- Sculpture
- 2-dimensional works: unframed, framed, or mounted on cradled panel
- 3-dimensional works welcome
Work requirements
Works must be original; no AI or reproductions. All works must be for sale. Unframed paper works must be durable enough to be exhibited with clips. No ripped, torn, wrinkled, damaged, or overly fragile paper.
Hanging & display
Use simple frames in white, black, or wood tones only; no floating acrylic frames. All works must be ready-to-hang. Hang from picture wire (not fishing line), D-rings, saw-tooth hangers, or the top of the frame or cradled panel. Cleats or hanging systems requiring wall screws are not acceptable. Works presenting hanging problems may not be included.
Sale of artwork
All works must be for sale. Drawing Rooms retains 40% commission on sales.
Submission limit & additional opportunities
Maximum 3 entries per artist. Selected artists will be considered for inclusion in other programs, including The Art Project JC lobbies and online Artsy.net exhibits throughout the year. Selected works will be featured for sale on Artsy.net.
