Overview
GRUPPE GORGONE and CALCIU SPACE invite FLINTA* artists from Bucharest and Berlin to apply for the group exhibition freeze: MEMORY at Atelierele Scânteia in Bucharest. The exhibition will bring together three artistic positions: two FLINTA* artists residing in Bucharest and one FLINTA* artist residing in Berlin. The opening takes place on 24 September 2026.
About the theme
Memory is often fleeting and shaped by family, places, images, stories, and social structures. Some memories remain vivid while others become fragmented, change, or disappear. Personal memories overlap with collective histories and narratives that have been passed down, documented, or erased. For freeze: MEMORY, we seek existing artistic works that engage with memory, remembrance, and forgetting—including questions of how memories are preserved, altered, reconstructed, or lost. Submissions from all artistic media and interdisciplinary approaches are welcome.

FLINTA* artists residing in Berlin or Bucharest.

Award
Each selected artist receives a gross honorarium of 10,000 RON (approximately 1,900 EUR at time of publication). Travel costs to and from Bucharest must be financed from this honorarium. Accommodation and transport within and around Bucharest are provided separately.
