The Art League of Baytown announces its first fall juried art exhibition sponsored by the Port Houston Community Grant Program. The theme is "Art and the Ship Channel." Entries should draw inspiration from public parks, greenspaces, and communities with public access within 3 miles of the Ship Channel waterways.

  • Submissions: August 1, 2026 12:01am – September 17, 2026 11:59pm
  • Selections: September 25, 2026
  • Notifications: September 26–30, 2026
  • Artwork delivery: October 8–9, 11am–4pm
  • Exhibition dates: October 10–30, 2026
  • Awards and closing reception: Friday, October 30, 6–8pm

Open to artists in the Baytown, Texas area. Artwork must be 100% created by the artist. Do not enter private properties without permission.

  • 2D (oils, acrylics, tempera, watercolor, pencils, crayons, collage, mixed media): must be framed, wired, and ready to hang; not to exceed 48 × 48 inches including frame. Wrapped canvas may be unframed if sides are painted.
  • 3D (sculpture): must not exceed 40 pounds, fit through a door, and not exceed 48 × 48 × 72 inches. All parts must be securely attached. No live plants, liquids, hazardous materials, or works requiring electricity. Battery-operated works acceptable (supply replacement batteries).
  • Photography: must be framed unless printed on canvas or metal; not to exceed 48 × 48 inches; must be wired and ready to hang.
  • $30 for first entry
  • $15 for second entry
  • $15 for third entry

Total awards: $2,000. Best of Show $300, Honoree Award $200, 1st Place $175, 2nd Place $150, 3rd Place $100, 1st Honorable Mention $75.

A brief artist statement about the piece is required and will be displayed with the artwork. Artwork will be judged on visual impact, creativity/originality, composition/design, craftsmanship/technical skill, and material usage (sustainability/environmental awareness).
