Get matched →The Pas-de-Calais Department offers seven artistic residencies in middle schools for the 2027–2028 school year. Each residency is four weeks (consecutive or split into two two-week periods over a maximum of three months) and includes 80 hours of work, with a minimum of 50 hours spent directly with students. Residencies pair professional artistic creation with student workshops and civic education, overseen by departmental culture and education teams.
Applicants must be professional artists, structured artistic collectives, or professional companies; hold a mandatory SIRET number; respect applicable legal obligations; be self-sufficient for travel within Pas-de-Calais; and present an ongoing creative work intended for their professional portfolio or repertoire. Excluded: production companies, non-professional companies, amateur associations, and self-published authors. Prior experience with school audiences, especially middle-school students, is highly valued.
Projects must address a civic theme (citizenship, tolerance, inclusion, sustainable development, gender equality, critical thinking, media literacy) and involve at least two classes in the creative process with planned mediation for other students. Workshops must be adapted to different grade levels and school technical constraints, with activity linked directly to the artist's professional creation. Residency may be four consecutive weeks or two two-week periods within a maximum three-month span. Budget must be realistic and integrated, including travel, lodging, and materials.
A capped departmental subsidy of 8,000 EUR covers artistic costs, preparation, interventions, promotion, final reporting, administration, travel, lodging, meals (except lunch, provided by the school), and materials and technical needs. This is not a net payment to the artist; all eligible expenses are deducted first. Additional support includes a dedicated space in the school, a school-based coordinator, ongoing guidance from departmental and regional teams, and the possibility of personal creation time at the school outside the 80-hour commitment.

Submit one project for one residency only via e-Partenaire platform. The Department selects the host middle schools. A compagnie cannot participate in this program and in 'Arts de la scène en collèges' (Performing Arts in Middle Schools) in the same school year. Travel time is not deducted from the 80-hour requirement; personal creation time outside the scheduled hours is also not counted toward the 80 hours.
