2027 Exhibitions - Falkirk Cultural Center & San Rafael Library

Overview

The City of San Rafael Library and Recreation Department seeks artists to exhibit in 2027 at the Falkirk Cultural Center (three second-floor galleries in an 1888 Victorian mansion) and the San Rafael Downtown Library (adjustable shelving display space in the renovated historic Carnegie building). Individuals, groups, and organizations are encouraged to apply.

Media & Submission

Open to all media except AI-created images or videography. Submit up to 20 digitally uploaded images for evaluation.

Venue Details

Falkirk Cultural Center: Three second-floor gallery rooms (approximately 60–123 sq. ft. each, irregularly shaped with fireplaces and windows); hosts five to six exhibits yearly, each running about 6 weeks. Open Tuesday–Friday 1:00pm–4:30pm, Saturdays 10:00am–2:00pm. Most exhibits include an opening reception during Second Friday Art Walks.

San Rafael Downtown Library: Three-dimensional work best suited for display. Five embedded shelving units, each with three adjustable shelves measuring 34 inches wide by 19 inches deep. Shelving units 48 inches high; each shelf supports up to 100 pounds. Open to the public seven days a week. Artists responsible for protecting their work.

Artist Responsibilities

All artwork must be hand delivered and installed by the artist or organization. Artists are responsible for installation, de-installation, and any protective measures they deem necessary.
