About
Overview
CAP • Centre d'art de Saint-Fons, winner of the Artothèques en ruralités program launched by France's Ministry of Culture in 2025, seeks to design and produce two educational media kits of different formats with mediation tools. One kit will be used within the Centre and a smaller, more portable kit will circulate outside the Centre with the Vélothèque (mobile device), allowing collection works to reach audiences beyond the Centre.
Objectives
- Design and produce two media kits for explaining artworks and their production techniques, particularly multiples like screenprints, linocuts, and photographs.
- Mobile kit: lighter and more compact to circulate easily outside CAP (approximately 40 x 50 x 15 cm).
- In-situ kit: no technical constraint but should be easily movable between spaces.
- Integrate an ecodesign approach (materials, impact, durability).
- Tools may include manipulable stamps, material samples to touch, olfactory elements, and other supports encouraging sensory engagement with the works.
Technical Examples
- Screenprinting: impression technique using interposed stencils between ink and support.
- Linocut: engraving on linoleum.
- Camera Obscura.
- Etching: intaglio engraving using chemical action.
- Monotype: unique impression without engraving.
Deliverables
Two completed media kits accompanied by a user guide for mediators, designed to facilitate observation, manipulation, exchange, and experimentation, making contemporary artworks more accessible and fostering curiosity about contemporary art.
Budget & Support
Total budget: 3,500 EUR TTC, including design and production (fees). The Centre offers the possibility of a production residency at CAP or use of the structure's technical workshops.
