Launch supports new and emerging cultural and science organizations in King County. Organizations selected will receive three years of general operating support and access to capacity-building support services. The grant supports general operating expenses including staff salaries, utilities, supplies, and fees, but cannot fund capital costs, fundraising expenses, or religious instruction.

  • Intent to Apply deadline: Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 5:00 pm
  • Final Application deadline: May 6, 2026 at 5:00 pm
  • New Organizations: began public programming in 2024, 2025, or 2026; currently operating or intend to operate as nonprofit; never received Sustained Support or Launch grant. Request $45,000–$180,000 over three years ($15,000–$60,000 per year).
  • Emerging Organizations: working under fiscal sponsor's 501(c)(3) or own 501(c)(3) with IRS Determination date on or after 1/1/2024; hiring first-ever 1.0 FTE staff member in 2027; never received Launch grant. Request $135,000–$180,000 over three years.

Panelists will evaluate applications on four criteria: Quality and Innovation (new programming, services, or innovation not currently offered); Goals and Feasibility (clearly stated goals and sustainable operational structure); Public Benefit (free or reduced-cost programs/services that increase access to culture or science in King County); and Advancing Equity.

Complete the Intent to Apply form by April 16, 2026 at 5:00 pm via 4Culture's grant portal. If eligible, you will receive instructions to complete the full online application by May 6, 2026.
