Copenhagen Photo Festival's 2027 Open Call for Solo Artists invites lens-based media artists to submit a project for a solo exhibition or selectee screening. Ten projects will be selected: 3–5 as full solo exhibitions and the remainder as Selectees. All ten shortlisted artists will be invited to interview with CPF in fall 2026 before final jury selection. Selected artists collaborate with the CPF curatorial team on exhibition planning and participate in an activity program of workshops, guided tours, and talks.

'Frie hænder | Free Hands' explores what it means to have freedom to act and shape one's own path amid widening inequality, technological upheaval, authoritarian currents, and violent conflict. The theme considers both political freedom and artistic freedom, including the human hand and imprint in image-making as automated image production becomes more prevalent.

  • Projects with few prior exhibitions in Denmark are accepted; projects already shown in Denmark as a whole are not eligible
  • Artists selected as CPF solo artist within the last three years must wait to reapply
  • Projects previously shortlisted for CPF in earlier years will not be considered again
  • CPF encourages applicants of all ethnic backgrounds, races, religions, ages, genders, disabilities, sexual orientations, and social statuses
