Palette in Play: How Artists Use Color invites Bay Area artists to share work that explores their use of color and its effects. The exhibition showcases how color pulls viewers into work and shapes perception, mood, and meaning.

  • Submission period: September 5, 2026 to October 3, 2026
  • Artist notification: By end of day on Saturday, October 17, 2026
  • Opening reception: Thursday, November 19, 2026, 6pm to 8pm
  • Artwork drop off: Friday, November 13, 2026, 11am to 1pm (preferred) or Saturday, November 14, 2026, 9am to 10:30am
  • Exhibition dates: November 19, 2026 to January 13, 2027
  • Artwork pick up: Friday, January 15, 2027, 9am to 10:30am (preferred) or Saturday, January 16, 2027, 9am to 10:30am

Open to Bay Area artists 18 years and above. All work submitted must be for sale.

  • Maximum dimensions (including frame): 72" high x 60" wide
  • Minimum dimensions: 8" high x 10" wide or 10" high x 8" wide
  • Maximum weight: 50 pounds
  • No sawtooth hangers; D-rings required with braided stainless-steel wire or multi-filament

Submit up to 3 works via ArtCall.org. Each submission may include 2 additional detail images. Submissions must include a title, price, unframed dimensions, short bio (475 characters or less), and artist statement (475 characters or less, excluding artist name). Artist statement is used in jurying.

  • Entry fee: $35 for up to 3 submissions
  • 70% to the artist, 30% to THE Gallery

Selected works will be evaluated on engagement with the theme, technique, overall mastery, creativity, and originality.
