Overview
The Volland Residency program provides time and space for creative practitioners of a wide range of disciplines to gather in a community setting for work, thought and exchange of ideas. Located in the Flint Hills of Kansas nestled between working ranches with sweeping views of the tallgrass prairie, Volland offers quiet, darkness, and solitude. The program welcomes artists, writers, poets, musicians, performers, designers, historians, natural scientists, and leaders in the humanities at all stages of their career from anywhere in the world.
Residency Length & Stipends
- 2-week residencies: $500 stipend
- 4-week residencies: $1,000 stipend
What's Provided & What's Not
- Included: Living space, studio space, access to shared or private kitchen
- Not included: Meals, travel expenses, art supplies, toiletries
Facilities & Equipment
- Private studios and shared studios available
- Printers, scanner, large sinks
- Textile and fiber arts workspace
- Washer and dryer
- Approximately 3 artists in residence at a time
Eligibility
- Open to artists at any stage of career
- Must be 18 or older
- Must have a valid driver's license and access to a car during residency
- Open to artists based anywhere in the world
- College students are eligible
- May apply as a team for collaborative residencies
- Pets are not allowed

Participants are welcome to apply for other grants or funding support. If they require a reference or recommendation letter, the Foundation is happy to provide one.
