Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts - MISSA - is seeking art workshop proposals for the June 25 - July 9, 2027 and June 23 - July 7, 2028, summer programming taking place at Pearson College in Metchosin. If you are not familiar with MISSA: MISSA is a renowned arts program founded in 1984 by Robin Hopper, Cheryl Samuels, Flemming Jorgensen, Rona Murray, and Carole Sabiston at Pearson College in Metchosin, BC. MISSA offers artist residencies as well as 2-day, 5-day, and 7-day workshops for adults in a wide range of disciplines, including clay, fibre, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, sculpture, writing, and book arts. MISSA takes place on the beautiful campus of Pearson College in Metchosin, overlooking Pedder Bay. The campus is situated on the traditional territory of the Sc’ianew Nation. Students come from near and far to gather at MISSA each year. The program takes place at the end of a glorious, green, tree-lined road on a beautiful seaside campus. Accommodations are available for instructors and students who stay on campus while taking a workshop. Day students from the surrounding communities are also welcome. Each day, everyone gathers for shared meals in the dining hall, and evening events and activities take place throughout each session. 2027 will mark the 41st summer program! Seize the opportunity to enrich the community with vibrant murals that celebrate, inspire and bring people together. Artists can partner with non-profit organizations, Saanich Community Associations, and local First Nations to apply for funding to support the creation of murals within the District of Saanich. Schools and businesses/private property owners can partner on projects with eligible organizations and artists. Successful applicants will have 18 months to complete their projects. Applications will be accepted until October 31, 2026 or until available funding is expended -- whichever comes first.
