Grant Writer & Donor Development Coordinator for Blue Cabin Floating Artist Residency

Position Overview

Blue Cabin Cooperative is hiring a Grant Writer/Donor Development Coordinator for a 1-year contract (part-time, 20 hrs/week, predominantly remote with occasional in-person meetings). Salary range: $35–$40/hr based on experience. Reporting to the Blue Cabin Cooperative Board.

About Blue Cabin

The Blue Cabin Floating Artist Residency is a mobile artist residency located on Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh territories in Vancouver, BC. Currently located on a floating platform at Heritage Harbour in collaboration with the Vancouver Maritime Museum, the residency has been operating since 2019 and has hosted close to 25 residents to date. The Blue Cabin Cooperative (formed spring 2024) oversees management and is undergoing strategic growth and development.

Key Responsibilities

• Grant development: strategize and seek appropriate grants for operational, project, and program development funding
• Grant reporting and ongoing funder communication
• Donor management and development of new opportunities
• Attend bi-monthly grant strategy meetings with BCC's Board
• Provide leadership and support for sustainable operations and programming
• Attend donor relation events and promotional activities as needed

Required Experience & Skills

• Post-secondary education in arts-related field, or equivalent education/experience combination
• 5+ years' proven grant-writing experience
• Development experience and/or donor management experience
• Excellent understanding of arts non-profit organizations
• Strong organizational skills; ability to work independently and take initiative
• Resourceful, hands-on, proactive problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse boards and communities
• Intercultural skill-set for working with diverse artists and communities
• History of engagement with Indigenous, Racialized and LGBTQ2S communities
• Strong commitment to bridge-building within diverse community frameworks

Accessibility

The Blue Cabin is currently not wheelchair accessible. Access to the residency involves a gangway to the dock (which can be steep depending on tides), a large step or small jump from dock to platform with handrails around the barge perimeter, and seven 7″ high stairs with a handrail, one 6″ step, and a 29″ doorway to the cabin studio space.
