The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant program provides interim financial assistance to qualified painters, printmakers, and sculptors whose needs result from an unforeseen, catastrophic incident and who lack resources to meet that situation. Each grant is one-time assistance for a specific emergency such as fire, flood, or emergency medical need.

  • Individual painters, sculptors, or printmakers
  • Minimum of 20 years in a mature phase of work
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Not eligible if previously received 3 or more Individual Support Grants
  • Must be able to communicate directly with the Foundation (second-party requests honored only when applicant is physically unable to communicate)
  • Dental work
  • Chronic situations
  • Capital improvements
  • Projects of any kind
  • General indebtedness or lack of employment
  • Lost or interrupted income from economic crises
  • Maximum grant: $15,000
  • Typical award: $5,000
  • One-time assistance only

Review of completed applications begins as soon as they are received. Full review generally takes about four weeks from the time an application is complete. Situations with imminent deadlines receive priority.

This program has no deadlines; applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
