Overview
The Gottlieb Foundation awards Individual Support Grants to recognize and support serious, fully-committed artists. These grants are available only to individual painters, sculptors, and printmakers who have worked in a mature phase of art for 20 years or more.

Eligibility

- Photography, film, video, and related forms not eligible unless work directly involves or can be interpreted as painting or sculpture
- Not available to students, graphic artists, craft artists, or organizations
- Previous recipients of 3+ grants are no longer eligible
Evaluation Criteria
- Maturity: demonstrated intellectual, technical, and creative development over 20+ years, with primary involvement in artistic goals
- Financial Need: applicants must complete financial disclosure section in full and submit appropriate financial documentation
Application Timeline
Applications for 2027 grant cycle will be accepted beginning October 2026, through January 2027 (exact dates to come). Applications for 2026 cycle are now closed.
Selection Process
Applications are reviewed by a panel of five professionals in the arts who have no affiliation with the Foundation.
