2026 CALL TO ARTISTS A A Prosperous Home by Gina Ienopoli Nightmare on Main Street is the Huntington Arts Councils annual exhibit for student artists in grades 6-12. Students from any school district are welcome to submit work. This year our juror is Gina Ienopoli. Students are encouraged to use her works and the following statement to inspire their own works. Folklore from various cultures shares captivating stories during gatherings or at bedtime, passing down moral lessons to each generation. Native Filipinos tell tales of mythical beings such as the Tiyanak, a deceptive shape-shifting creature who mimics a crying baby to entice compassionate individuals deeper into the jungle, and the Diwata, beautiful guardian spirits of forests and mountains who can either bless or curse someone based on their treatment of nature. The Tikyanak stories warn against rashness and emphasize the dangers of the unknown, while the Diwata stories advocate respect towards the Earth and one's environment. In your own world or using your own culture, create a mythical creature that inhabits its own environment and convey a backstory that imparts a lesson, incorporating visual elements to explain this throughout your work. Hanging wire required No more than 2 works will be selected by the juror. All media Size Students 6th - 12th grade. Hanging work 48" x 48" max Standing work 72" max Video/audio work cannot exceed 50MB in file size and 10 minutes in duration.
