Overview
North Van Arts invites artists to submit artworks for Plasticocene, a group exhibition exploring plastic as both a material and a reflection of contemporary life. The exhibition will feature 2D and 3D artworks made from, responding to, or challenging plastic and its many forms.
Theme
The call seeks works that explore plastic's role in contemporary culture—its permanence, disposability, replication, consumption, and transformation. Artists are encouraged to consider how plastic use impacts environment, behaviours, desires, and identities, and to reflect on the convenience and consequence of this pervasive material.
Who May Apply
Both emerging and professional artists located in Metro Vancouver are welcome. North Van Arts especially encourages applications from Indigenous Peoples, People of colour, 2SLGBTQIA+ community, people living with disabilities, and people who have experienced discrimination due to race, gender, age, ancestry, religion, or place of origin.
