We are actively seeking short-form literature and visual art to build the cornerstone of our debut publication. Petrichor occurs the moment rain hits earth. Our poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and visual art are these moments of transformation. Our passion is to curate exceptional writing and visual art that are a catalyst for transformation, a new literary renaissance, and even revolution – and also just tell a really great story! Although Petrichor and The Drop have a global reach and a global community of storytellers – our editors and contributors are from North America, Europe, and Africa – we are rooted in the local Kansas City community. General Submission Guidelines & Details: Eligible Genres: Short fiction and CNF up to 5,000 words, flash fiction/nonfiction (around 1,000 words or less), poetry (up to five poems), or one to three images of visual art. We’re also open to hybrid/blends – just submit to the “best fit” form and elaborate in your brief cover. You can also submit in multiple forms. Submission Period: Open Reading Fee: None Launching a piece of your art with a new publication is an act of trust. To honor that partnership, we offer the following to engender the long-term life of our contributors' work: Permanent Placement: Your work will be permanently featured in our dedicated online inaugural showcase. Award Nominations: We nominate for Best of the Net. Tear Sheets: each artist will receive a high-resolution PDF of their featured work Artist Spotlights/Career Cultivation: We’ll foster your continued publication endeavors by including interview spotlights, a publication “press kit” so you don’t have to spend all your time marketing (you can get back to creating!), and we’ll place an active link next to your featured work that leads viewers to your website, print shop, and/or social of choice.
