Program Overview
HBK Braunschweig offers 12-month fellowships for visual artists, sound artists, and curators through the Braunschweig Projects programme. Fellowships include a curatorial fellowship, 2 sound art fellowships, and 5 visual arts fellowships.
Curatorial Fellowship
Develop and realize a curatorial concept for the final exhibition of the Braunschweig Projects programme 2027/2028. Participants will take part in jury meetings to select artistic fellows and work closely with selected artists. Projects should ideally connect to a museum, collection, scientific or cultural institution in Lower Saxony and include research, preparation, implementation, budgeting, communication, and possibly an educational program.
Visual and Sound Art Fellowships
Artists develop projects in the vicinity of HBK Braunschweig and make significant contributions to the development of artistic practice forms. Each fellow receives a mentor, access to workshops and laboratories, and opportunities to present work within the university. Fellows must spend at least 8 months on site during the lecture period and participate in Welcome Weeks (April 19-30, 2027).
Eligibility
Curatorial fellowship: applicant must have gained initial curatorial experience. Visual and sound fellowships: applicant must have a successfully completed art degree and show proof of extensive artistic practice and exhibition participation.
