North Van Arts is accepting submissions for the Art in the Community Program 2027, which offers eight-to-twelve-week solo or paired exhibition opportunities in public gallery spaces across three venues in North Vancouver.

  • Application deadline: September 25, 2026, 5:00 PM PST
  • Applicants notified by: October 31, 2026
  • Must reside in Metro Vancouver
  • Must have a minimum of 10 artworks available for exhibition at time of application
  • Working in 2D or small 3D mediums (painting, photography, ceramics, mixed media)
  • AI-generated images will not be accepted
  • 2D works: minimum 24" x 36", maximum 48" x 72"
  • All 2D artworks must be fixed with two eyehooks, D-rings, eyelets or equivalent on the back of frame or canvas, positioned approximately ¼ inch from the top
  • Works must be framed; submit an image of the frame if applicable
  • Description of the theme/concept of the exhibition (up to 600 words)
  • Up-to-date artist's statement and biography (no more than 400 words each)
  • Inventory list of artworks including title, date, medium, size in inches, and price (note if not for sale)
  • Up to 16 high-resolution images of proposed artworks

  • North Van Arts retains 35% of total sale price for each artwork sold during the exhibition period

All artworks are subject to a juried selection process by North Van Arts staff, assessed on how they align with the open call theme. Applicants will be notified of results by October 31, 2026. Individual feedback is not provided for unselected work due to the high volume of submissions.

The program aims to celebrate and enable emerging and professional artists through solo exhibition opportunities in public spaces, with artwork assessed on how it aligns with the open call theme.
Eligibility
Emerging and professional artists residing in Metro Vancouver, working in 2D or small 3D mediums, with a minimum of 10 artworks available for exhibition.
Audience
Emerging and professional visual artists; applications especially encouraged from Indigenous peoples, people of colour, 2SLGBTQIA+ community, people with disabilities, and those experiencing discrimination.
Size & format
