Singapore Deviation: Wander with Art Through the Rail Corridor

Overview

Singapore Deviation is a series of public art commissions exploring the iconic Rail Corridor in Singapore through the works of three artists: Sookoon Ang, Hilmi Johandi, and Tan Pin Pin. Conceived as site-specific installations, each artist offers a unique entry point into the evolving uses of the site, from colonial railway to wildlife corridor and recreational trail.

About the Rail Corridor

The public art trail explores the 24km track that runs through the north-south axis of Singapore. The original Singapore-Kranji Railway was realigned in 1932. The track operated for decades before the last train departed in 2011 and has since been repurposed as an urban retreat and community leisure zone.

• Tan Pin Pin: walk walk (Singapore Deviation version) - Screening room with video (27 min 13 sec) and vinyl text installations at Kampong Bahru Bus Terminal
• Hilmi Johandi: Stagecraft: Landscaped Grounds - UV print on treated aluminium mounted on galvanised steel scaffolding
• Sookoon Ang: Moonlight - Bronze sculpture (112 x 82 x 265 cm)
