About
Overview
Fronteer Gallery is accepting submissions for Salt of the Earth, an exhibition of local folk customs and culture. Work can be in any medium except audio or video. Artists from across the UK are welcome to submit artworks inspired by folk customs and culture found around the British Isles.
Size and Format
- Wall mounted work: no more than 25cm × 25cm of wall space, including frames and mounts (framed or unframed)
- Work without hanging attachments should be suitable to be hung using Command Strips
- 3-D and sculptural work: should fit on a 30×30cm plinth and should not exceed 35cm (height) × 30 × 30cm
How to Submit
Submit up to 3 pieces of work by completing a separate form for each submission. You may provide a very short description of no more than 50 words to be displayed alongside the work.

What You Get
Selected artists receive a private view evening with free drinks (welcome to bring friends and family), invigilation throughout the exhibition, and promotion online through social media posts.
Delivery and Collection
Successful artists may send work by post (must arrive by 3rd September) or deliver in person during gallery opening hours between 24th August–3rd September. For postage returns, artists are charged £4 handling plus Tracked 48 postage cost; larger parcels can be returned via Parcelforce Express 48. Couriers cannot collect from the gallery.
Important Notes
All work must be complete at submission. Any work that varies from the original piece or size submitted may be rejected. Canvas prints are not accepted as substitutes for original artwork. The gallery is upstairs with no disabled access.
