Get matched →The Rencontres d'Arles Curatorial Research Fellowship is intended for curators wishing to carry out an original image/photography project. The project will be carried out in two stages: research (until summer 2027) and production (from September 2027). The fellowship is supported by Jean-François Dubos.
The grant is open to all exhibition curators wishing to carry out an original project relating to image or photography.
The grant, worth a maximum of 20,000 euros, consists of an initial sum of 5,000 euros in royalties, payable to the winner, and a second sum of 15,000 euros, subject to validation, to produce the project.
Once selected, the curator will receive a grant of 5,000 euros to cover expenses and royalties for six months of research. At the end of this period, the curator will submit a proposal to the artistic direction of Rencontres d'Arles to validate the feasibility of the project and its restitution format.
Following approval, if the project is accepted by Les Rencontres d'Arles at the end of the six-month research period, it will move into the creation and production phase. The 15,000 EUR production budget managed by the Rencontres d'Arles includes loans of works, shipping works to Arles (round-trip), production of the works (printing, framing, wallpaper, videos, etc.), an invitation to the curator, and possible costs of the artists’ expenses in Arles during opening week (and/or the mounting of the exhibition), and insurance. In addition, the Rencontres d'Arles will cover the costs of exhibition design, communication, installation and dismantling of the works, and security.
