The Arts Council for Long Beach offers three types of microgrants: Project Microgrants for free public projects beneficial to Long Beach residents, Professional Development Microgrants for workshops and conferences, and Public Art Maintenance Microgrants for restoring and maintaining existing murals and utility boxes.

  • Cycle 1: October 1–December 31, 2026 (Application Deadline: August 22, 2026)
  • Cycle 2: January 1–March 31, 2027 (Application Deadline: November 15, 2026)
  • Cycle 3: April 1–June 30, 2027 (Application Deadline: February 15, 2027)
  • Cycle 4: July 1–September 30, 2027 (Application Deadline: May 15, 2027)
  • Public Art Maintenance Microgrant applications open on a rolling basis

Project and Professional Development Microgrants are available to Long Beach-based artists and organizations. Projects must be free, open to the public, and beneficial to Long Beach residents. Successful applications must demonstrate support for community representation, cultural respect, cultural diversity, and/or enhancement of underserved communities. Fiscal Sponsor is not required.

  • Project Microgrants: maximum $1,000 per fiscal year
  • Professional Development Microgrants: funding available (amount not specified)
  • Public Art Maintenance Microgrant: $250–$1,000 for repair, power washing, cleaning, and protective coatings

Applicants will be notified of their application status after the Arts Council board meeting following the application deadline. Both the Project and Professional Development Microgrant programs accept applications quarterly throughout the year until funds are fully allocated.
