About
Overview
AICA International and the Cité internationale des arts co-designed a research residency program for art critics working and residing internationally. The program aims to encourage and facilitate their mobility by supporting research projects on art criticism that can benefit from the working environment offered by the Cité, the INHA, and the AICA archives at the Archives of Art Criticism in Rennes. Partners commit to supporting laureates through professional mentoring, networking, and engagement with the French artistic, critical and curatorial scene.

Eligibility
- At least 5 years of professional practice in art criticism
- Member of AICA at time of application
- Residing outside metropolitan France
- Individual applications only (no collective applications)
Selection criteria
Beyond professional track record, the jury will pay particular attention to: the artistic quality of submitted texts and the intent statement; the relevance of the residency to the Cité and Paris; the proposed working methodology and any contacts or partnerships already established for long-term project development.

- CV including short biography (4 pages maximum)
- Intent statement presenting the research project for the residency and explaining its relevance to the program context and resources
- Selection of 5 texts written by the applicant in French or English, demonstrating critical practice and fields of interest

- Studio-residence apartment: 20–35 m² furnished with workspace, kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping area
- Monthly living stipend: 1,000 EUR net of taxes
- Round-trip international transport to Paris airports covered
- Travel insurance and visa costs covered up to 1,000 EUR
- Professional mentoring, meetings, and networking organized by program partners
