Overview

DutchCulture | TransArtists maintains a database of over 1,500 artist-in-residence programmes worldwide that host international artists on a regular basis. The database includes residency programmes in visual arts, performing arts, applied arts, crafts, curating, research, music, literature, digital media art, and cross-disciplinary fields.

Criteria for Inclusion

• Offering a residency opportunity that is not only a one-time opportunity (one-time opportunities follow a different process)
• Professional opportunity (not a B&B, resort, or hostel facility) not intended to make profit
• Any artist fees must be reasonable and realistic for the location
• Open to applications from artists (not invitation-only or exclusively bilateral exchanges)
• Accepting international artists from multiple nationalities, not limited to one country
• Preferably providing accommodation or concrete help finding accommodation (studio-only opportunities are rarely listed)

How to Submit Your Residency

Complete the submission form on the website. Publishing a profile typically takes around 8-10 weeks as submissions are reviewed manually by the team. You will receive confirmation immediately upon submission. There is no charge for this service.

Updating Your Listing

Once your residency is added to the database, it will appear in the deadlines section (for fixed deadlines) or under 'Apply any time' (for ongoing deadlines). You can edit your listing anytime to update description, costs, technical information, deadlines, or add up to 5 new pictures (maximum file size 600 MB).
