Sacred Waters traces the spiritual waterways that have carried African sacred traditions across oceans and centuries of displacement into vibrant new manifestations throughout the Americas. This exhibition honors the profound resilience of African spiritual wisdom, celebrating how enslaved peoples and their descendants transformed oppression into empowerment.

  • Surviving and Thriving—themes of overcoming and joy in unexpected circumstances
  • Diaspora—related to the migration and scattering of Black people outside of Africa
