Get matched →The ADN - Usine Utopik association, a Contemporary Creation Center located in the former horticultural greenhouses of Tessy-Bocage (Manche), is launching a call for applications to enrich the collection of its Artothèque. This initiative is part of the "Artothèques en ruralités" program, for which Usine Utopik is a laureate. The Artothèque, created in 2012, allows residents, schools, media libraries, communities, associations, and medico-social structures to borrow contemporary art works.
The acquisitions aim to build a coherent, lively, and representative collection of contemporary creation. They seek to: sustainably enrich the Artothèque's collection; foster encounters between local audiences and contemporary art; enable the circulation of works in non-art dedicated venues; and form coherent sets of works for itinerant mini-exhibitions.
Usine Utopik is a research and experimentation platform hosting visual artists and authors in residence. Located in the former horticultural greenhouses of Tessy-Bocage, this regional cultural center offers a vast workspace in a privileged setting. Since its inauguration in 2009, it has hosted over a hundred visual artists and about thirty writers.
For this acquisition campaign, proposals must freely and openly address the notion of utopia.
This call is open to any artist, artist collective, or gallery representing living artists active in contemporary graphic arts, of French or foreign nationality. Candidates must demonstrate a professional background validated by an art school curriculum, significant exhibitions, or professional publications. Particular attention will be paid to emerging artists, but this is not an exclusion criterion for established artists.
Every listing links to the organizer's official page. Always confirm deadlines, fees, and entry rules there before you apply.
Proposed works must be original, unique or limited edition, and from the contemporary graphic arts. They should preferably be less than 6 years old and suitable for use in an artothèque, particularly in terms of handling, transport, hanging, and conservation. Due to the regular circulation of works and the diversity of host spaces, the maximum format is 100 x 80 cm (excluding frame) to ensure compatibility with loan, transport, and presentation conditions.
