About
Overview
A 2 to 4 week self-directed residency in Latera, a medieval village in the heart of La Tuscia Viterbese region in Italy, north of Rome. The program welcomes artists, writers, musicians, and researchers. Painters, photographers, designers, illustrators and other creatives are invited to create their own agenda and explore the surrounding region rich in Etruscan history and archaeological sites.
Accommodation & Workspace
Residents live independently in a self-contained 2-level apartment in the center of the village. The apartment includes a living room, kitchen, and workspace on the ground floor; bedroom and bathroom on the first floor with an extra double bed available. The house is well-equipped with central heating, washing machine, and internet access. The private workspace features a work table and studio easel; additional workspace available in the garden of the nearby Museo della Terra.
Suitable for
The house is suitable for those producing small to medium-sized two-dimensional works or small three-dimensional pieces. Candidates are expected to bring their own materials and equipment. For larger works, it is possible to work outdoors in the large garden of the Museo della Terra.

Fees
Residency fees are listed on the application form at www.lacasaetruria.com. Residents are responsible for all travel expenses, food, drinks, and artist materials and equipment during their stay.
Exhibition Opportunity
At the end of a 3 or 4 week stay, it is possible to have a small exhibition at the Museo della Terra in Latera or in a former small church. Guests are encouraged to leave a legacy of their stay: a sketch, a painting, a poem.

Location & Access
Latera is situated between Umbria, Tuscany, Lake Bolsena, and the Tyrrhenian Sea. The village can be reached by public transport; however, residents are highly recommended to come with own (rented) transport, as public transport in this area is very limited. Nearby towns include Sorano and Pitigliano in the Tuscan Maremma.
