The City of Arvada's Arts & Culture Commission invites professional artists and artist teams to submit qualifications and concepts for a permanent sculpture near the new Arvada Aquatics Center on Carr Dr. This landmark artwork will serve as a visual icon for the neighborhood and facility, showcasing a celebration of water, movement, and community. The sculpture should function as a sculptural beacon, enhancing the Aquatics Center's identity and visitor experience.

Artists should create a dynamic representation of water, interpreted through form, motion, light, texture, or negative space, evoking the essence of water plus community. The final artwork must be visually compelling from 360 degrees, maintain a strong silhouette, read clearly from near and far distances, and complement the contemporary architecture of the Aquatics Center. The sculpture must fit on a 6'x6' pad or less with a height between 6'-9' tall and must be appropriate for a family-friendly, public environment with young children.

The sculpture must be constructed of weather-resistant, low-maintenance materials suitable for Colorado's climate. Acceptable materials include metal, stone, concrete, glass, or composite materials designed for long-term outdoor display.

This call is open to professional artists and artist teams 18 years or older with demonstrated experience in creating and installing large-scale, durable outdoor sculpture and a current Colorado home or studio address. Artists working in abstract or contemporary sculptural forms are strongly encouraged to apply.
