New English Art Club

Overview

The New English Art Club (NEAC) invites artists to submit work for exhibition alongside members at the NEAC Annual Exhibition 2026. At the heart of the NEAC is the search and propagation of meaningful, resonant art, committed to authenticity through the observation of life and the articulation of ideas with the beauty of skilful language. This exhibition is a showcase for both members and aspiring artists, with a history going back more than a hundred years.

Key Dates

• Submissions open: Monday 8 December 2025, 12 noon
• Submissions close: Friday 20 March 2026, 12 noon
• Notification of pre-selection: Friday 27 March, 12 noon
• Receiving Day (if pre-selected only): Saturday 18 April, 10am to 5pm
• Notification of final selection: Tuesday 21 April, 12 noon
• Collection of unaccepted work: Thursday 23 April, 10am to 5pm
• Private View (invite only): Wednesday 10 June, 6pm to 9pm
• Exhibition opens: Thursday 11 June, 10am to 5pm daily
• Exhibition closes: Saturday 20 June, 5pm
• Collection of unsold work: Thursday 25 June, 10am to 5pm

Eligibility

Any artist over 18 may submit, in the UK, EU, and outside the EU. Work must have been completed in the last two years and must not have been exhibited in London previously. All works must be an original creation by the artist.

Media & Size

Acceptable media include paintings, drawings, and original framed prints (excluding photography). Sculpture is not admissible. Works should not be larger than 2.4m along the longest dimension.

How to Submit

• Upload image/s in JPEG or PNG format under 5MB
• One image per submission showing the complete work (required)
• Optional two additional images per work showing details (including framing if applicable)
• Include title, medium, size (cm), year of completion, price per work, and optional artwork description

Entry Requirements

Artists may enter a maximum of six works each, from which up to three works per artist may be selected. International artists will be selected online only and need only ship work to the gallery if selected.

Prizes & Awards

• The NEAC Climate Emergency Prize: £2,000 for an artwork addressing the climate crisis, plus £500 runner-up prize
• The Doreen McIntosh Prize: £2,000
• The Hermione Hammond Drawing Award: £2,000 (for emerging artist aged 35 or under)
• The Arts Society (Greater London Area) Award: £1,000 (for emerging non-member artist)
• The Borg Scott Art Award: £1,000
• The Ken and Dora Howard Prize: £1,000 (for painting best capturing light)
• The Bowyer Drawing Prize: £500
• The Michael Harding Award: £500 in art materials
• The Winsor & Newton Award: £500 in art materials
• The NEAC Critics' Prize: £250
• Mall Galleries / FBA Award: Ten free submissions to Federation of British Artists exhibitions (worth up to £220)
• The Wendy Harman Prize: £200
• The Dry Red Press Award: Publication as greetings card with royalties to artist
• The Val Harris Prize: One week residency in The Atelier in Hay-on-Wye plus one-week exhibition at The Table gallery (for NEAC members)
