Overview
Studio 88 Artist Residency invites multidisciplinary creators to participate in SensoryScapes 2026, operating under the theme "Local Roar • Global Resonance." The residency explores how local stories, regional traditions, and natural environments inspire artistic expressions with global relevance. The program coincides with the Loy Krathong and Yi Peng (Lantern) Festivals and Chiang Mai Design Week 2026.
Residency Details
- Duration: 4 to 6 weeks (artist's choice) between November 1 and December 13, 2026
- Location: Doi Saket, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand
- Private bungalow with kitchenette, private working area, cleaning service, utilities, air-conditioning, Wi-Fi
- Access to private and shared studio/work spaces
- Rehearsal space, venue allocation, technical assistance for public presentations
- On-site administrative support, research assistance, curated studio visits, workshops, networking

Eligibility
Open unconditionally to international and Thai artists worldwide. Open to creators who experiment across disciplines, challenge traditional boundaries, explore sound/performance/technology/ecology, and seek collaborative engagement.
Residency Fees
- Individual Artist: 40,000 THB (2 weeks), 52,000 THB (3 weeks), 60,000 THB (4 weeks), 80,000 THB (6 weeks), 100,000 THB (8 weeks)
- Artist Duo / Artist with Assistant (per person): 36,000 THB (2 weeks), 46,800 THB (3 weeks), 54,000 THB (4 weeks), 72,000 THB (6 weeks), 90,000 THB (8 weeks)
- Artist Group min. 3 pax (per person): 34,000 THB (2 weeks), 44,200 THB (3 weeks), 51,000 THB (4 weeks), 68,000 THB (6 weeks), 85,000 THB (8 weeks)
- Accompanying Family Member (per person): 20,000 THB (2 weeks), 26,000 THB (3 weeks), 30,000 THB (4 weeks), 40,000 THB (6 weeks), 50,000 THB (8 weeks)
- Note: 40,000 THB is approximately €1,000 EUR. Special discounted rates apply for Thai artists.
- Costs not covered: airfare, travel visas, health insurance, daily meals, local transport, personal art supplies
Program Benefits
Selected artists receive dedicated studio space, research support, and the opportunity to present public showcases or installations within Chiang Mai's festival ecosystem. Dedicated artist profile features across Studio 88's website and social media networks.

- Entry fee
- Application fee is free ($0 submission fee). Residency costs vary by duration and participant category: Individual Artist 40,000–100,000 THB; Artist Duo/Artist with Assistant (per person) 36,000–90,000 THB; Artist Group min. 3 (per person) 34,000–85,000 THB; Accompanying Family Member 20,000–50,000 THB. 50% non-refundable deposit required upon confirmation; balance due 1 month prior to arrival.
