Overview

Since 1997, Charlotte Street has supported over 100 outstanding visual artists living in Kansas City through its annual Visual Artist Award program, with a total of over $900,000 distributed directly to visual artists to date. These competitive awards recognize accomplished local artists creating outstanding artwork and showing great promise.

Award Details

  • Three unrestricted cash grants of $10,000 distributed to visual artists annually
  • Professionally curated exhibition at a high-profile Kansas City art venue (Emily & Todd Voth Artspace, Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Spencer Museum of Art)
  • Commissioned critical essay accompanying the show
  • Jury panel composed of local, regional, and national artists and culture workers

Eligibility

  • Reside within an 80 mile radius of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area
  • Have lived in this area for at least one year
  • Not be full-time students
