Get matched →The Keramikkünstlerhaus Neumünster is announcing two international residency programs for contemporary ceramic art in 2027: the established °Ceramic Artist Exchange – Tandem program (°CAET) and the new °Ceramic Artist Duo (°CAD) format. Both programs are aimed at artists whose artistic practice centers on contemporary ceramics and ceramic materials. They offer space for artistic research, exchange, and the development of joint or collaborative work processes.
The °CAET program awards two residency stipends, bringing together two artists of different generations (an emerging artist and an established artist). The focus is on intercultural dialogue, the exchange of artistic experiences, and the development of new perspectives through collaborative work. Artists work on their own projects while sharing studio and living spaces, equipment, and basic materials for a seven-week stay. An explicit interest in exchange and collaboration with the tandem partner is required.
This new format offers two stipends for existing artist duos whose artistic practice is significantly shaped by ceramics. The seven-week residency allows duos to further develop their collaborative artistic practice through a shared project based on a common research question or idea. This includes developing a joint spatial and exhibition concept. The residency concludes with a joint public exhibition presenting the developed works and collaborative process.
Both programs include a seven-week stay at Keramikkünstlerhaus Neumünster. Participants have access to shared studio and living spaces (two rooms, kitchen, bathroom), equipment such as kilns and potter's wheels, and basic materials free of charge. The stipend includes a one-time payment of 700 € per artist to support living costs. Artists must have sufficient English language skills for communication during the residency. The programs are open to artists of all ages. Public events will take place during the stay, and artists are expected to be present to offer insights into their artistic processes. Both residency formats conclude with a five-day public exhibition, during which artists are present and have the opportunity to sell their work. Upon completion, artists will donate one representative work to the Keramikkünstlerhaus collection, to be presented in an annual exhibition at the beginning of the following year. Re-application to the °CAET or °CAD program is not permitted.
